This short eno-gastronomic holiday is a travel through  the culinary tradition of the  beautiful Valle Umbra, a fertile valley with many waterways surrounded by a backdrop of green hills covered with vineyards and olive groves. In this valley lie the well-known small medieval towns of Assisi, Montefalco, Bevagna and Spello, but also larger cities such as Perugia, the capital of the province crossed by the river Tiber, and Spoleto, lying at the foot of the green wooded Monteluco.

You will stay in an eco-accommodation along the babbling river Clitunno located between Trevi, Bevagna and Montefalco. In the fine dining restaurant are used local products such as truffles, mushrooms, veal and extra-virgin olive oil.

Day 1

Arrival in the country house

The country house, run by the friendly Carla e Luigi, is a farmhouse dating back to the 18th century. It is recently entirely renovated to the standards of a eco-architecture: the use of natural and recycled materials, and solar panels for energy. There are 6 apartments of various sizes, a restaurant, garden, saltwater pool and car park. In the evening a dinner.

Day 2

Discovering the surroundings and a cookery course

After breakfast you are accompanied to go shopping for the cooking course. After this you have the cooking course during which you will  prepare dishes from the Umbrian cuisine. At lunch you will taste the delicious dishes prepared during the course.

In the afternoon you will have free time to explore the area and you could visit the hilltop town of Trevi, the capital of the oil, or Bevagna, a town of Roman origin with a medieval appearance.

Day 3

Spello, Assisi and a wine-tasting.

After breakfast you can relax in the saltwater pool, but also go for a visit to Spello and Assisi or make a bike day tour in the valley.

Spello is proudly built on the slopes of Mount Subasio. The town has well preserved its medieval character and in the old centre you will find a maze of alleys, cheerful tinted by  the plants in flower boxes. The main sights are in the centre:  the S. Maria Maggiore church with the colourful fresco cycle by Pinturicchio and two works by Perugino, the S. Andrea church, the city museum, the Roman mosaics and Roman city gate Porta Consolare and Porta Venere.

Assisi is a town where history, traditions and art are fused together in harmony. You can enjoy wandering through the alleys, stepped streets and crossing the squares with many terraces, inviting you to enjoy a delicious Italian ‘gelato’ or drink a hot cappuccino. There is much to see such as the basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clair, the castle, many museums and the forum romanum. You get a description of a cultural walking tour that takes you along the most important monuments of the city.

A day bike tour: you can also make a nice bike ride through the countryside starting from the bike rental company between Assisi and Spello. You can choose between an easy ride (31 km) which goes first to Santa Maria degli Angeli and then to Spello or a ride of medium difficulty (42 km) passing Assisi, Santa Maria degli Angeli and Spello.

At the end of the afternoon you are expected in an organic winery for a wine-tasting of the wines of the Assisi d.o.c. area.
